The greatest ‘band’ in the world

Here is a stunning performance by the world-famous Pete X, featuring (in this configuration): A “drummer” who only sometimes can get through Rock Band songs on the Hard setting; an inexplicably shirtless lawyer; a disco ball; a tambourine-less backup singer; and one bona-fide guitar hero.

Mostly we just did this to see if Prince’s people would send a takedown notice.

That worrisome Indy trailer

So the first trailer for Indiana Jones and the Blah Blah Blah Skull has been released. I can’t say I’m any less worried than I was before.

Vodpod videos no longer available. from movies.yahoo.com posted with vodpod
You don’t get any sense that this one has a story; plus Marian appears for approximately .23 seconds; plus witness Indy’s wisecrack when he lands in the truck. I hope I’m wrong, but after a recent re-watching of Temple of Doom (full report forthcoming!) I’m not getting my hopes up.

Obama, Meet We Are the World

I’m somewhat of a Barack Obama fan, so I suppose it’s nice that Will.i.am and other celebrities have decided his candidacy is important enough to warrant a pro-Obama (proBama?) “We Are the World”-style music video.

But with the “lyrics” consisting of sung-chanted portions of an actual Obama speech, and with the participants not once winking (see: Scarlett “Yeah, I Made a Tom Waits Covers Album” Johansson singing at a sibilant-dulling mic screen), the video basically is a cross between “Voices That Care” and the brilliant Ali G sketch where he beatboxes to a nuclear protester’s embarrassingly dreadful protest song.

Still, none of them holds a candle to the best celebrity song of all time: Rockers to Help Explain Whitewater.
